The Cambridge Rocket Club completed its 6th launch of the season on August 9, 2025. The weather conditions were once again ideal, hot temperatures, partly cloudy sky and 10 – 20 kph winds. We had 16 members and four guests show up to launch their rockets, the most flyers this season. Once again we flew models utilizing everything from 1/4A to G engines. Our launched included some cluster models, multi-stage models, scale models and Streamer Duration models.
The show got off to a very early start when CRC member Paul Zelichowski successfully flew his 14 cluster Starship model. The big rocket flew perfectly, well done Paul. We also welcomed 4 guests to the launch that successfully flew 13 model rockets. I hope that they all had fun and some may consider joining our club.
The day concluded with our annual 1/2A.3-4T Streamer Duration contest sponsored by the Canadian Rocket Store. Several of our members flew Aerospace Speciality Products (ASP) Thermal Seekers competition models. The winner of this event were the tag team of Ryan and Ian Tawileh winning a $75 gift certificate from the Canadian Rocket Store as well as having their 2026 CRC membership fees waived. Paul Zelichowski took second places and a $50. Canadian Rocket Store gift certificate followed by Bob Dorcas claiming third places and a $25. Canadian Rocket Store gift certificate.
By the end of the day we managed to launch 55 model rockets and burning 71 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 1,925 Neutons.
A good time was had by all. Our next launch is scheduled for Sunday September 14th with a theme of on-board technology. The launch has been re-scheduled from our typical Saturday launch date so that I and others may attend the Celebration of Life for CRC member Mike Dennett whom passed away last winter.
