On July 12, 2026, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s fifth and largest launch of the season. We were treated to ideal launch conditions, 30 degree temperature, blue sky and lite winds (10 KPH). We had 29 CRC members and 5 guests each fly at least one model rocket. We also welcomed 3 new members to the club. Welcome aboard.
Our launches featured a number of Scale rockets as well as multi-stage, chute release, dual deployment and altimeters. Our success rate was very high, however I understand that we were unable to recover several models. The launch also featured our annual Open Parachute Spot Landing contest sponsored by the Canadian Rocket Store. This year we had 19 different flyers participate and tried to land their rockets as close as possible to the landing target. Final contest results to be published shortly.
By the end of the day we launched 99 model rockets and burned a total of 104 model rocket engines ranging from 1/2A to G motors with a theoretical total impulse of 2,578 Newtons.
A good time was had by all and I would like to thank Harold Statz and Tim Nicholls for assisting with the spot landing measurements. Our next scheduled launch is on August 8th which will feature our annual 1/2A.3-4T Streamer Duration Contest also sponsored by the Canadian Rocket Store. This will also include another rocket give-away.
