On June 14, 2025, the Cambridge Rocket Club completed it’s third launch of the season under less than ideal conditions. The temperature was seasonal with a blue sky, however the wind gusted up to 30 kph at times making it a challenge to fly. The theme for the launch was Scale Models and our annual Open Parachute Spot Landing contest, however the gusty winds resulted in very few scale models being flown and the postponement of the open parachute landing contest. Both of these events will be added to the programme for our July 12th launch.
We managed to have 22 different people launch a model rocket including four new club members, (welcome aboard), as well as four guests. We did manage to launch 51 model rockets using engines from 1/4A to G engines. We managed to burn 55 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 1,926 Neutons. Fun was had by all.
Our next launch on July 12th will feature Big Rockets as well as our model rocket give-away for the youngsters attending the launch. I have 15 rockets complete with engines ready to fly for this launch. If any member wishes to donate a rocket for this give-away, please let me know. Just make sure that the model is flight worthy and not too complicated for our youngest members.
Cheers
