On August 13th, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s seventh launch of the year under ideal conditions. We were greeted with warm temperatures, clear sky and light winds. We had a total of 12 different rocketeers launch rockets that included engines from A to G power, multi-stage, clusters, on board cameras and a glider The flight success rate was very high as we took advantage of the ideal conditions.
The launch featured our annual A.3-4T Streamer Duration Contest sponsored once again by Sunward Hobbies, and this years competition provided a few surprises. Unfortunately, we had two of theA.3-4T club supplied engines CATO and the participants were allowed to re-fly. Anton Epp has been working on his streamer duration model all year and he took a big lead after round one of the competition. His second flight did not deploy the streamer and he opened the door for eventual winner Ethan Phalp to take home the top prize of a $75. Sunward Hobbies Gift Certificate and has his CRC 2023 membership paid for. Anton Epp held on to second place and collected a $50. gift certificate. Third Place winner Jonathan Nobles graciously waived his winnings and Alan Kirker took home the $25. gift certificate. It was a fun day.
